Day-9 Class 3-5 We Love Reading:

Day-9 Class 3-5 We Love Reading: English Story: The VAIN CROW
Once a crow found a lot of peacock’s feathers. He was so vain as to think that if he put them on, he could pass for a real peacock.
So he picked up the peacock’s feathers and stuck them into his own. Then with the false feathers on, he left his own tribe to mix with the peacock’s.
But the peacocks at once found him out.
They drew out his gay feathers and fell on him with their sharp bills and made him smart for his false pride.
Then they drove him away.
The vain bird had to come back to live with his own kin. But now they would not have him either.
“Ah! my dear child,” said the old mouse, “you have, indeed, run for your life, but the fierce thing you speak of was not your foe, for it was but a bird that would not have done you the least harm in the world, whereas that sweet thing, of which you seem so fond, was a cat, and cats eat us, mice, when they have the chance; in fact, they live on mice.”
Moral: All that glitters is not gold.
But the peacocks at once found him out.
They drew out his gay feathers and fell on him with their sharp bills and made him smart for his false pride.
Then they drove him away.
The vain bird had to come back to live with his own kin. But now they would not have him either.
