Day-39 Class 3-5 We Love Reading: తెలుగు కథ : డేగ – శిబిచక్రవర్తి
శిబిచక్రవర్తి ఆపదలో ఉన్నవారికి సాయం చేసేవాడు. ఎవరు ఏది అడిగినా దానం చేశేవాడు, ఒక రోజున ఒక పావురం వచ్చి ఆయన దగ్గర వాలింది. తనను కాపాడమని బతిమాలింది. సరే కాపాడతాను అని ఆయన మాట ఇచ్చాడు.
ఇంతలో ఒక డేగ వచ్చింది. ఈ పావురం నా ఆహారం, నేను తినాలి దాన్ని నాకు ఇచ్చేయ్ అని కోపంగా అదిగింది డేగ.
పావురాన్ని ఇవ్వను దానికి బదులు ఇంకేదయినా అడుగు అన్నాడు, శిబిచక్రవర్తి. అయితే పావురం అంత బరువుగల నీ తొడమాంసం ఇయ్యి, అని అడిగింది డేగ. శిబిచక్రవర్తి త్రాసు తెప్పింది. ఒకవేపు పళ్ళెంలో తన తొడమాంసం కోసివేశాడు. ఎంత మాంసం కోసి వేసినా పావురంతో సమానం కాలేదు.
చివరికి తానే త్రాసులో రెండో పళ్ళెంలో కూర్చున్నాడు. పావురానికి బదులుగా మొత్తం తన శరీరాన్నంతా తినెయ్యమని డేగను వేడుకున్నాడు.
వెంటనే డేగ ఇంద్రుణిగా మారింది. పావురం అగ్ని దేవుడిగా మారింది. వాళ్ళను చూసి శిబి ఆశ్చర్యపోయాడు. ఇంద్రుడు, అగ్నిదేవుడు ఇలా అన్నారు. శిబిచక్రవర్తీ! మేం నిన్ను పరీక్షించాలని వచ్చాం. ఈ పరీక్షలో నీవే గెలిచావు.
నీ దానగుణము, త్యాగగుణమూ చూసి సంతోషించాం. గొప్ప దాతగా భువిలో నీపేరు నిలిచిపోతుంది అని దీవించి అదృశ్యమైనారు.
నీతి: ఎప్పటికైనా సత్యమే గెలుస్తుంది.
Day-39 Class 3-5 We Love Reading: English : The King Sibi
There was a kind king named Sibi who always helped those in need. One day, a pigeon came to him wanted to save herself. Sibi promised to save it. Meanwhile, an eagle arrived and demanded the pigeon as its food.
Sibi refused to give the pigeon but offered something else. The eagle insisted on his thigh, which was as heavy as the pigeon. Shocked, Sibi cut a piece of his thigh for the eagle. No matter how much he cut, it wasn't enough for the eagle on a scale. Finally, he begged the eagle to eat his whole body instead of the pigeon.
Suddenly, the eagle turned into Indra, and the pigeon turned into the god of fire, Agni. Sibi was amazed. Indra and Agni revealed that they had come to test him, and he had passed. Impressed by his charity and sacrifice, they blessed him, saying his name would be remembered on Earth as a great giver, and then they disappeared.
Moral: Truth always wins.
