Day-18 Class 3-5 We Love Reading: తెలుగు నీతి కథ : కోతుల టోపీలు

ఒక టోపీలు అమ్ముకునే అతను ఉండేవాడు. అతను అన్ని ఊళ్లూ తిరుగుతూ, అన్ని చోట్లకీ వెళ్లి టోపీలు అమ్ముతూ ఉండేవాడు.

ఒక రోజు అలాగే వ్యాపార పరంగా ప్రయాణం చేస్తుంటే అలసట అనిపించింది. మండుతున్న సూర్యుడు, భగ్గున ఎండ, ఆకలి, దాహం అన్నీ కలిసి పాపం అతన్ని ఇబ్బంది పెడుతున్నాయి.

దారిలో ఒక చెట్టు నీడలో ఆగి, తెచ్చుకున్న భోజనం తిని, మంచినీళ్ళు తాగి, తన టోపీల బస్తా పక్కన పెట్టుకుని, చెట్టు నీడ లో హాయిగా నిద్రపోయాడు.

కొంచం సేపటికి లేచి చూస్తే బస్తా లో ఒక్క టోపీ కూడా లేదు. అన్ని టోపీలు ఎవరో కొట్టేసారు. ఎవరై ఉంటారని దిక్కులు చూస్తుంటే చెట్టుపై చప్పుడు వినిపించింది. పైకి చూస్తే చెట్టు నిండా కోతులు ఉన్నాయి. ఊరికే ఉన్నాయా? ఒకొక్క కోతి తల మీదా ఒకొక్క టోపీ వుంది.

ఓహో ఇదా సంగతి అని టోపీలు అమ్ముకునే అతను “నా టోపీలు నాకు తిరిగి ఇచ్చేయండి” అని కోతులతో అన్నాడు.

అవి మాట వినే రకమా? గమ్మున కూర్చున్నాయి.

కోపంగా అతను అరిచాడు.

అవీ తిరిగి అరిచాయి.

చప్పట్లు కొట్టాడు.

అవీ కొట్టాయి.

ఒక రాయి విసిరాడు.

కోతులు చెట్టుకున్న పళ్ళు తిరిగి విసిరాయి.

కొడతానని బెదిరించాడు.

కోతులు నవ్వాయి.

చివరికి ఏమి చేద్దామా అని ఆలోచిస్తూ అలవాటు ప్రకారం ఒక చేత్తో తన తలపైనున్న టోపీ తీసి, ఇంకో చేత్తో తల గోక్కున్నాడు.

కోతులూ అలాగే చేసాయి.

ఠప్పున ఐడియా వచ్చి, తన చేతిలో వున్న టోపీ నేల మీదకి విసిరే సాడు.

వెంటనే కోతులు కూడా వాటి చేతుల్లో ఉన్న తోపీలను నేల మీదకు విసిరేశాయి.

టోపీలు అమ్ముకునే అతను గబ గబా ఆ టోపీలన్నీ మళ్ళి బస్తాలో వేసేసుకుని, వెనక్కి తిరిగి చూడకుండా పరుగో పరుగున పారిపోయాడు!

Day-18 Class 3-5 We Love Reading: English Story: The Golden Egg

Once upon a time, there lived a cloth merchant in a village with his wife and two children. They were indeed quite well-off.

They had a beautiful hen which laid an egg every day. It was not an ordinary egg, rather, a golden egg. But the man was not satisfied with what he used to get daily. He was a get rich-trice kind of a person.

The man wanted to get all the golden eggs from his hen at one single go.

So, one day he thought hard and at last clicked upon a plan. He decided to kill the hen and get all the eggs together.

So, the next day when the hen laid a golden egg, the man caught hold of it, took a sharp knife, chopped off its neck and cut its body open.

There was nothing but blood all around & no trace of any egg at all. He was highly grieved because now he would not get even one single egg.

His life was going on smoothly with one egg a day but now, he himself made his life miserable.

The outcome of his greed was that he started becoming poorer & poorer day by day and ultimately became a pauper. How jinxed and how much foolish he was.

Moral: One who desires more, loses all. One should remain satisfied with what one gets.
